Danish contributions to developing countries to meet the targets on water and sanitation in the Millennium Development Declaration and the Johannesburg Summit on Sustainable Development.

The Millennium Development Goals and the Johannesburg Targets on Water and Sanitation states that by 2005 all countries must develop Integrated Water Resource Management and water efficiency plans and by 2015 the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation must be halved.

These targets play an important role in improving the livelihoods of the World’s poorest and for sustainable use of water resources. Targets Denmark is committed to support. The publication gives an overview of and description of Denmark’s development cooperation and its contribution to reaching the international targets on water and sanitation.
