Military resources 2000

Army

1 divisional and 7 military region headquarters.
4 brigades and 3 battle groups of brigade size.
281 tanks.
786 other armoured vehicles.
8 Multiple Launch Rocket System launchers.
467 pieces of artillery.
12 anti-tank and 13 other helicopters.
13,000 complement including 4400 conscripts and 460 women.

Air Force

C. 69 warplanes.
3 fighter/fighter bomber squadrons.
In addition 8 ground-to-air rocket squadrons.
C. 5000 complement of which 125 are conscripts and 300 women.

Navy

3 corvettes.
4 inspection vessels.
3 submarines.
8 smaller vessels.
14 vessels which by means of modules can be equipped for various duties.
6 minelayers and mine cleaning vehicles, 2 mobile missile batteries and 8 helicopters.
4060 complement including 496 conscripts and 200 women.

Home Guard

Army Home Guard: 49,000 complement.
Naval Home Guard: 4400 complement.
Air Force Home Guard: 5700 complement.
Joint Service Corps: 3000.
The Naval Home Guard has 40 vessels at its disposal.


Defence budget 2000: 1.36% of GDP.
