A global challenge needs a global dialogue!
On Tuesday 8 December 2009 at 3.30 p.m. a photo exhibition will open at Halmtorvet in central Copenhagen (Vesterbro). The exhibition is capturing the essence of the nexus between development and climate change. To mark the opening Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark, Ms. Ulla Tørnæs, will host a reception. (December 3, 2009)
Agriculture and private sector join forces for gender equality
During the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Istanbul, the World Bank and Turkey's Hüsnü M. Özyeǧin Foundation hosted the global Private Sector Leaders Forum focusing on women's economic empowerment. During the Forum two new torch bearers joined the Danish MDG3 Call for Action campaign when Danish Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tørnæs handed over torches to IFAD President Kanayo F. Nwanze and important Turkish businessman Mr. Hüsnü M. Özyeǧin. They both thereby committed to do something extra for women’s economic empowerment on gender equality. (October 5, 2009)
Gender and Climate are linked together
Women suffer the most from consequences of climate change. Gender issues must be considered as we react to climate changes. Today UNDP Administrator Helen Clark made a commitment to focus on gender and climate change as she received a MDG3 Torch from Danish Minister of Development Cooperation Ulla Toernaes.
