The
sea is very important to Denmark. Both for tourism, the climate, the
culture and of course for fishing. There's never far to the sea in Denmark.
Actually, it's impossible to find a place in Denmark more than 60 or 70 kilometres from the ocean. And we have many lovely beaches, because we have such a long coastline: 7300 kilometres.
There
are a total of 500 harbours in Denmark, 80 ferry routes and a lot of
bridges. The two largest are the Great Belt Bridge and the Øresund Bridge
to Sweden.
The Great Belt Bridge from Funen to Zealand consists of a low-level bridge and a high-level bridge and an underground tunnel for trains.
The
Great Belt Bridge is one of the greatest bridge constructions in the
world. Its total length is 13,4 kilometres.
