Ombudsman
Equality - sort of...

In 1954 Denmark got an ombudsman. The idea was originally Swedish and was first thought of in 1809. Following each general election, the Parliament appoints an ombudsman, who is not allowed to be a member of the Parliament.

The ombudsman's most important role is to protect the citizens and investigate if they've been treated unfairly.

The ombudsman, who may well be a woman, is a kind of democracy expert who helps citizens who want to complain about the authorities. If a citizen has applied for something and has been turned down by the public authorities, he or she may complain to the ombudsman for free. His job is to investigate if mistakes have been made with respect to relevant laws.
